Two Italian entrepreneurs based in Estonia, watching AI regulation unfold in real time and deciding to build the infrastructure before it became mandatory.
Where it started
Estonia was the first EU member state to introduce a formal framework for AI agent identity — the AI ID Code. When we read the regulation, it was immediately clear: this was not just a local experiment. It was the direction the entire European compliance landscape was heading.
The EU AI Act (Regulation 2024/1689) already requires AI systems to identify themselves, maintain audit trails, and give organisations the tools to prove accountability. Article 50 mandates disclosure. Articles 13 and 16 require technical documentation. Article 26 requires human oversight and traceability.
Companies using AI agents — for emails, contracts, customer interactions — are already legally exposed. Most don't have a single structured answer to the question: "Which AI sent this, and can you prove it?"
AgentID was built to be that answer. An AI agent registry that works today, aligned with Estonian law, and ready for the broader EU compliance wave that is already coming.
